Overrunning Alternator Pulley
In 1995, our engineers developed the over-running alternator pulley (OAP) that is mounted instead of the rigid belt pulley. It balances and absorbs the vibrations and relieves the front-end accessory drive.

The overrunning alternator pulley decouples the alternator from rotational irregularities of the crankshaft. It dampens belt vibrations, shortens the tensioner paths and extends the service life of the belt. In addition, it reduces the force level around the ribbed belt drive and improves the noise characteristics of the belt drive system. The required special tool is also supplied by Schaeffler Group Automotive Aftermarket.
